We have been fostering for about a year now.
❔ Why did you begin fostering?
Fostering has a special place in our hearts, because we each have a sibling that joined our family through fostering. We both knew how positive fostering had been in our lives, and the lives of our siblings, so it was something we always knew we wanted to do as a couple.
❔ What has God taught you during your foster care journey?
God has taught us many things during our foster care journey- patience, flexibility, how to lean on him when we’re exhausted and trust him when we’re uncertain about how a situation will work out. We’ve also learned that being the hands and feet of Jesus requires action. If a situation is weighing on your heart, that’s God calling you to do something about that situation!
❔ What hope do you hold onto during the difficult seasons?
During the difficult times, we hold on to the hope that, even if we don’t see the impact now, caring for these children makes a difference. We’re changing the future for the kids we care for, whether they stay for a week or a year. We may never see exactly what that impact has been in this life, but we hold on to the hope that what we’re doing is changing our small corner of the world for the better.
