Cyn Franz | Heights Church
This is my 2nd season of fostering. Forty-four years ago, my husband and I were licensed and adopted our son. During that first 5-year period, we had 15 or more children that lived with us.
A year ago, Restore Network shared at Heights Church. I remember sitting there wondering if I could be licensed again. (At the time I was single, worked full time and I was old-almost ready to retire!) Afterwards, I spoke to Katie and she said “Definitely! You could be a single foster parent!” I have 4 children and 10 grandchildren, but I LOVE little kids! The idea of sharing my home & heart with a child again made me so happy! I am simply answering God’s call to care for vulnerable children. He has blessed me abundantly, so I want to give back. I’ve now been fostering for 6 months.
Soon after PRIDE classes, I received my license and “C” was placed with me. She’s almost 4 and a bundle of energy. She’s been a blessing to me, my children, and their families. We love her. When/if she’s reunited with her birth family I hope we can remain in contact, but if not I’m confident I’ve given her a safe and loving environment to grow and thrive–she knows she is loved unconditionally.
I retired a week before the Covid-19 outbreak, so the adjustment to being together 24/7 has had its ups and downs. I realized I needed to get outside items since playgrounds were no longer an option! Who knew a 66-year-old could keep up with a 3 1/2-year-old?! Our days begin with cuddling on the couch, we watch the birds and occasional bunny and discuss plans for the day. We take lots of walks! She and my dog are best friends—he’s on her heels wherever she goes. They are good companions and he helped her adjust when she came to live with us.
My hope for “C” is that the life and love lessons she is learning will stay with her forever and that the foundation of God’s love we are instilling in her will continue to grow.
