❔ Why did you begin fostering?
Fostering had been on our hearts for a very long time. Rachael began volunteering for Restore Network thinking that was the niche we were supposed to be in, but after several years, we continued to see the need for foster families in Illinois grow and we decided to help fill the need.
❔ What has God taught you during your foster care journey?
He has taught us to possess a deeper level of love and compassion that we didn’t know we needed or were capable of. That compassion has helped us extend grace to the bio parents and foster babies, as well as to ourselves when we struggle.
❔ What hope do you hold onto during the difficult seasons?
In the difficult seasons, we hold onto the knowledge that this IS just a season, and “This too shall pass.” One of our biggest challenges has been all of the “not knowing.” There are so many variables in the world of fostering, but we hold onto the hope that God is in control when we just don’t know.
