Dads Who Say Yes | Jeff

What were your biggest concerns as you considered saying yes to foster care?

Jeff: It has been so long ago that I really don’t remember, but if I had to pick something, it would be the uncertainty of it all. Just not knowing anything about the kids coming to our house, how long they would be here, their likes and dislikes, and if they would even like us.

Why did you ultimately say yes?

Jeff: My wife and I had always been involved in kids ministry at our church, and I believe that is what started the conversation, but it was ultimately my wife that pushed us in the way of foster care.

How has God worked in your life during your foster care journey?

Jeff: We are constantly reminded that God’s timing is best and He is in control. We have realized that we don’t have all the answers and we are constantly relying on him to help us through.

What would you say to other men who God may be calling to foster?

I would say that every man in some form is being called to foster care (James 1:27). Taking the first step is always the hardest. We may think that things need to be perfect before we can start helping, but that’s not the case. Just being willing to commit to something that is bigger than yourself is what I believe God is asking.
